| Appointments of Nurses and Midwives held at Jaffna Veerasingam Hall on 14th November 2011. Hon. Governor of Northern Province G.A.Chandirasiri participated as chief guest and gave away appointment letters. 170 numbers of Nurses and 202 Midwives received their appointment letters. They are working at Jaffna, Kilinochchi, Mullaitivu, Vavuniya and Mannar Districts. Chief Secretary of Northern Province Mr. A.Sivaswamy, Secretary to the Governor and Secretary, Ministry of Education Mr. L.Ilaangovan, and Secretary to Ministry of Health Mr. R.Raveenthiran, PDHS Dr (Mrs) S.R.Jude and RDHS for Northern Province and other high official also participated at this function. | |

Governor, GA Chandrasiri had a meeting with the newly appointed Medical Officers at RDHS Office, Jaffna on 15th November 2011. 90 doctors were appointed to Northern Districts this month. Governor gave them an introductory briefing regarding the medical administrative process and procedures in the Province. | |

| OPD Block, Maternity ward, Doctors Quarters and Midwife Quarters at Divisional Hospital, Ampan was declared open on 21.10.2011.Hon. Major General G.A. Chandrasiri, Governor, Northern Province was the Chief Guest . His Excellency, Azmi Zainuddin, High Commissioner of Malaysia to the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka and Dr. Heng Aik Cheng, Executive Council Member, MERCY Malaysia were the Special Guests. Mr.R.Raveendran, Secretary, Ministry of Health & IM, Northern Province, Dr (Mrs.) S.R. Jude, Provincial Director of Health Services, Northern Province, Mr.N.Thirulinganathan., AGA, Maruthankeny were the Guests of Honour for this ceremony. | The Ministry of Health has announced National Health Week from 03rd to 09th October 2011. The orientation programme held on 03.10.2011 at RDHS Office Jaffna. Mr.R.Raveendran, Secretary, Ministry of Health & IM, Northern Province was the Gust at this occasion. Reference to the Ministry of Health circular, RDHS office, Jaffna decided to conduct the National Health week on the following date schedule. 03.10.2011 – Meeting of the District/Divisional/ MOH level meeting. 04.10.2011 - Organizing Cleanup campaigns institutions & common places. 05.10.2011 - Health Education Programme school level & school health clup meeting & divisional level Dengue control meeting at DS office. 06.10.2011 - PHII areas inspection of Hot spots, drainage, houses, cemeteries & town areas, schools, abundant lands and gov & Non gov institutions. 07.10.2011 - Medical camp for all people at all MOH level, RDHS level and kaithady elders home. 08.10.2011 - Inspection of Religious Places in the MOH area by PHI, PHM Performance. 09.10.2011 – Blood donation at BH Point Pedro, BH Chavakachcheri and RDHS Office Jaffna. 10.10.2011 - RDHS level, cultural shows depicting the talents of the staff. | |

The World Rabies Day was celebrated by Regional Directorate of health Service, Jaffna on 28th Sep 2011 at Sornambigai Hall, Thiyahie Charitable Trust, No 527, Navalar Road, Jaffna. FITTING JAIPUR ARTIFICIAL LIMBS 07.09.2011updated |
A team of 20 technicians from the famous Jaipur-based Bhagwan Mahaveer Viklang Sahayata Samiti (BMVSS) organization led by Dr .A.B. Sharma is conducting the camp. People can get these facilities from Jaffna, Kilinochchi, Mullaitivu, Vavuniya and Mannar.
Treatment at the camp is free of charge and opens everyday till 28th September 2011 from 9.00 am to 5.30pm.

| World HIV/AIDS day was celebrated by RDHS Office, Jaffna on 01 December 2011at Sornambigai Hall, Thiyahie Charitable Trust Complex. Dr. A.Ketheswaran, Regional Directorate of Health Services, Jaffna was the Chair Person for this occasion. Mr.R.Raveedran, Secretary, Ministry of Health & IM, Northern Province, was the chief guest. Dr. (Mrs) S.R.Jude, Provincial Director of Health Services, Northern Province was the Special guest, Dr. (Mrs.) B.Pasupathirajah, Director, Teaching Hospital, Jaffna, Dr.Ashok Kumar Prabatha, Project Director, HOPE Foundation, Tamil Nadu were the guests of Honors. JAIPUR FOOT LIMP FITMENT CAMP INNAGURATION PROGRAMME 07.09.2011updated |
| The inauguration of the limb fitment camp was held at Divisional Hospital, Kondavil on 5th September 2011. The Governor of the Northern Province GA Chandrasiri and Consul General of India for Jaffna V.Mahalingam jointly inaugurated the Jaipur limb fitment camp. A team of 20 technicians from the famous Jaipur-based Bhagwan Mahaveer Viklang Sahayata Samiti (BMVSS) organization led by Dr AB Sharma is conducting the camp. The BMVSS had so far provided artificial limbs and/or calipers to more than 1.2 million needy people in the world and conducted camps in 24 countries around the world. Earlier, a similar camp was organized at Vavuniya last year in which 1,240 people were fitted with the artificial limbs.The Governor in his address, thanked the BMVSS organization and its staff for organizing such a great service rendered to the people of the Northern Province. Also he requested the needy people to make use of this noble service. | |

| The Mobile Medical Camp was held on 14.07.2011 at Maruthankeny church. Consultants, Medical officers were come from Colombo, Jaffna and Point Pedro hospitals for this Mobile Medical Camp. In this Medical camp, about 850 patients have got treatment and advices form the consultants and Medical Officers. General Medicine, Pediatric, Gyn. And Obs, Dental, ENT, and Skin treatment were given by them. Hon. Namal Rajapakse Member of Parliament was participated this programe. | |

| The newly constructed Primary Medical Care unit at Eluvaitivu and Doctors quarters was handed over to the Health Department on 30th of May 2011. Hon. Silvesthiri Alanteen, Member of Parliament for Jaffna District was the Chief Guest for this occasion. Mr. R.Raveendran, Secretary, Ministry of Health and Indigenous Medicine, Northern province, Mrs. R.Varathalingam, Addi. GA, Jaffna, Dr.A.Ketheswaran, Regional Director of Health Services, Jaffna, Dr. Aruna Puniyamoorthi, Medical Superintendent, Base Hospital, Kayts, Dr. Noel Nadesan from Australia were the Special Guests for this occasion. The function was presided over by Mr. K.Srimohanan, AGA, Kayts. This hospital was constructed by Dr. Noel Nadesan family from Australia at a cost of SLR 8.5 Mn and handed over to Health Department, Jaffna. | |
